Journey of Mushtaq Rajpar

This website was created to bring together the journalism, activism, and life’s work of Sindh’s noted writer, community leader, and former political activist, Mushtaq Rajpar.
Early Life and Education
Born in September 1976 in Goth Chuttal Rajpar, a small village in Sindh, Mushtaq began his education at the village school. He later moved to Shahpur Chakar, District Sanghar, where he lived with his late uncle Qurban Rajpar and completed his primary and secondary education.A.

He pursued his intermediate studies at Sachal Sarmast College, Nawab Shah, where he became actively involved in the Sindh Rights Movement through Sujag Bar Tahreek (SBT), or “Movement of Awakened Children.” At just 14 years old, Mushtaq served as the central president of this children’s political organization.

Mushtaq earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in International Relations from Karachi University. During his time there, he worked part-time at the Sindhi-language newspaper Daily Jaago under the renowned editor Agha Saleem. This job allowed him to support himself through university.

Professional Journey
Mushtaq began his career in journalism, working with Sindhi-language newspapers such as Daily Sach and Daily Barsat. Over the years, he also taught as a lecturer at SZABIST Karachi and the Department of International Relations at Sindh University, Jamshoro.

Mushtaq’s career expanded into the field of diplomacy. He served in prominent roles at the Japan Consulate and the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi. At the U.S. Consulate General, he worked as a media specialist, advising on Sindh and Balochistan affairs. During this tenure, he received specialized training from the U.S. Foreign Service Institute (FSI) in Media Tradecraft, Visual Diplomacy, and Public Affairs Outreach.

Contributions and Advocacy
Mushtaq is a well-read individual with deep contextual knowledge of Sindh’s history and the broader subcontinent. He is a journalist, writer, television anchor, former university lecturer, and a lifelong activist for Sindh’s rights. His professional experience in diplomacy, coupled with his journalistic insights, has made him a prominent voice for Sindh’s economic and social concerns in Pakistan’s federation.

A regular contributor to The News, Pakistan’s second-largest English-language newspaper, Mushtaq focuses on Sindh’s economic interests and advocates for a secular and progressive Sindhi society.

Leadership and Current Pursuits
Currently, Mushtaq serves as the General Secretary of the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), the largest representative body for Sindhis in Canada and the United States. Founded in 1984, SANA is a 501(c) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Sindhi culture and community welfare.

Mushtaq’s educational journey continues. He is currently in the final semester of his Master’s in Public Policy at the Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University, in Arlington, V
